DALLAS, June 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — On May 20^th, at the Interior Design Society’s (IDS) annual Designer of the Year Awards Gala in Ft. Myers, FL, Dallas’s own Nicole Arnold received awards recognizing national design excellence in two categories for 2014.  Nicole’s creation of a fashionable, teenage bedroom for a client was judged by a panel of distinguished design experts to be one of the top three in the country for bedroom renovations under $30,000. The design placed second.  As president of the Dallas Ft. Worth chapter of the Interior Design Society (IDSDFW), Nicole accepted the outstanding charity award for a project done by the chapter for Dwell with Dignity in Dallas.  It was the second year in a row that IDSDFW had won the award.

“I am extremely gratified to have my company’s bedroom project for a 14-year old girl recognized as one of the best designed rooms in the country,” said an elated Nicole.  “My client wanted her daughter to have a mature and appropriately sophisticated room that embraced her current age and would transition with her through high school. We were given carte blanche to come up with a scheme and decided the details in this design would make all the difference. That they did! The client was ecstatic with the result and her daughter immediately posted her new ‘digs’ on social media, proudly bragging to her audience.”

The Dwell with Dignity project executed by IDSDFW consisted of furnishing a home for a woman and her 2-year-old daughter who were moving out of homelessness.  Dwell With Dignity‘s singular mission is to help families escape poverty and homelessness through the power of design, one household at a time.  IDSDFW, its design partners and corporate supporters spent three months developing color palettes, refurbishing furniture, creating original art, and purchasing accessories, to do a comprehensive visual overhaul of a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment with a family room, dining area and kitchen. The result was spectacular.

“Our IDS chapter is consumed with creating uplifting spaces that express the care and love we all put into them,” explains Nicole.  “As I have said before, it’s really special when we can give a luxury experience to someone who never dreamed they could afford such a moment.  It reminds me of the really important things in life: generously encouraging and serving one another with the gifts and talents given to us.”

The Interior Design Society is an independent national organization comprised of more than 2,000 members. It is one of the country’s largest design organizations and dedicated to serving the residential interior design industry.

For the last five years, IDS has sponsored the Designer of the Year Awards which recognize outstanding achievement in residential interior design among IDS members nationally and is hailed as a prestigious honor.
